The department of general surgery has been functional since the inception of Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal in 1956. The department has 24 faculty members and 16 post graduation seats for MS curriculum.
The department has 8 Surgical Wards with approximately 28 beds each, 3 Surgical ICUs with approximately 15 beds each. We have been practising all the super and sub specialities of General Surgery.
All the major surgeries are being performed in the department including renal transplant.
